Responsibilities

We're seeking an Aquatics Director to join our team. As our new Aquatics Director you will be responsible for the Aquatic department encompassing swim lessons, swim instructors, lifeguards, swim/master’s team, group exercise classes, camps, parties, events, meets, recreational swim, and facility rental. As the Aquatics Director, you will lead and develop the staff to provide a sustainable level of excellence in character, customer service and execution of job duties ensuring the highest level of customer service and quality programming.  The Aquatics Director will administer all Site policies and programs related to the Aquatics department.  This person also monitors and maintains the operation of the pool facilities and equipment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit, hire, and train all Aquatics staff
  • Supervise and schedule Aquatics staff
  • Coordinate and supervise all programs in Aquatics Department
  • Respond to customers/client inquiries
  • Develop pool schedule that accommodates the needs of the business as well as serves members
  • Develop the promotional and marketing materials for the Aquatic department
  • Motivate and educate Aquatic Staff on customer service and sales
  • Meets budgeted department goal on swim lesson and pool revenue goals
  • Tracks sales and commissions; performs payroll calculations            
  • Ensures timely delivery of programs/lessons
  • Matches Swim Instructors with student to support student reaching swimming goals              
  • Manages pool areas and maintains staff coverage of pool areas
  • Orders equipment and supplies within budget as well as oversees equipment repairs and maintenance  
  • Develops and implements Aquatic programs
  • Monitor financial performance and reconcile revenues             

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Growth and development of the Aquatics Program
  • Establishing, monitoring and analyzing budgets
  • Prepare an annual budget for the Aquatics department
  • Develop, implement, and supervise preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure all Aquatics staff maintain appropriate certifications
  • Maintain documentation of in-service training, accident reports, lifeguard certifications, incident reports, maintenance records, and pool tests
  • Inspect all facilities and equipment related to the operation of the Aquatic department
  • Achieve Site monthly revenue goal
  • Provide all statistical and reporting information to GM on a timely basis.
  • Respond to member’s concerns, suggestions and complaints in a timely (24-48 hours), professional and consistent manner.
  • Maintain Current CPR/AED certification, and other necessary certifications for self and staff

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • AA degree
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Lifeguard Training Certified
  • Certified Pool Operator
  • 2+ years of management experience in hospitality/fitness industry
  • Experience as a Lifeguard or swim lesson instructor

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Lifeguard Training Instructor Certified-preferred
  • General intelligence & decision-making skills.
  • Must exhibit a strong interest in working in fitness industry.
  • Excellent human relations, communications, customers/client service skills.
  • Cooperative and friendly attitude.
  • Ability to exhibit enthusiasm for the job, the Site, the Company.
  • Creative thinking, implementation and promotion of new and existing programs. 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires long periods of standing or sitting.
  • Moderate use of computer terminal screen, right or left hand use, Typing.
  • Grasping and gripping movements
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. Some lifting may require additional assistance from another staff person. Employee expected to use discretionary judgement and ask for assistance from another employee if an item is perceived to be too heavy to lift without assistance.
  • Use of personal safety equipment required.
  • Frequent use of pool and cleaning chemicals.
  • Continuous exposure to moderate to loud noise.
  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Occasional lifting, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
